Shiwuwei Saierdou Wan (十五味赛尔斗丸) is a traditional Tibetan medicine formulation composed of fifteen herbal and mineral ingredients, including Swertia chirayita (印度獐牙菜), Lysimachia christinae (金腰草), potassium nitrate (火硝), Illicium verum (角茴香), Coptis chinensis (洪连), Aconitum tanguticum (唐古特乌头), Punica granatum seed (石榴子), Citrullus colocynthis seed (波棱瓜子), Berberis bark (小檗皮), Trogopterus dung (五灵脂), Leontopodium nanum herb (矮丛凤毛菊), Borneolum syntheticum/black borneol crystal resin(黑冰片), Aucklandia lappa root(川木香),Terminalia chebula fruit(诃子),and mica schist(金精石)[1][4][5]. The mechanism of action is described in traditional terms as promoting bile secretion and excretion of bilirubin/cholesterol to dissolve stones[5]. Modern pharmacological mechanisms are not well characterized.
