Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shixin lozenge (Shixin Hanpian) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) developed by Hubei Hengan Pharmaceutical for the treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (recurrent oral ulcers). It is specifically indicated for patients presenting with the 'stomach fire upward flaring' pattern, a TCM syndrome characterized by painful oral sores, halitosis, and thirst. The therapeutic approach involves clearing heat and purging fire to alleviate pain and accelerate the healing of oral mucosal lesions. A Phase 3 clinical trial (CTR20130821) was conducted in China to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the lozenge in adult patients compared to a placebo.
