Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shizhenanshen is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Beijing Anding Hospital, which is affiliated with Capital Medical University. The formula is specifically designed for the treatment of schizophrenia and related psychiatric disorders, often utilized as an adjunctive therapy alongside conventional antipsychotic medications. Its name is derived from its primary mineral ingredients, Magnetitum (Ci Shi) and Concha Margaritifera (Zhen Zhu Mu), which in TCM theory are used to 'anchor' and 'calm the spirit' (Anshen). Clinically, it is employed to manage positive symptoms of schizophrenia, such as agitation and restlessness, as well as associated insomnia and anxiety. Research suggests that the preparation may exert its effects by modulating central neurotransmitter systems, particularly the dopaminergic and serotonergic pathways, helping to stabilize mood and improve sleep architecture in psychiatric patients.
