Overview

Short hairpin RNA RHPN1-AS1 (sh-RHPN1-AS1) is an experimental RNA interference (RNAi) agent designed to silence the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) RHPN1-AS1. In prostate cancer models, RHPN1-AS1 is upregulated and functions as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that sponges miR-7-5p, thereby upregulating EGFR expression and activating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. By knocking down RHPN1-AS1, sh-RHPN1-AS1 restores miR-7-5p activity, leading to the downregulation of EGFR, inhibition of cell proliferation and invasion, and induction of G2/M arrest, apoptosis, and autophagy. This construct is primarily used in preclinical research to investigate the oncogenic role of RHPN1-AS1 in tumor progression.
