RAGWITEK (short ragweed pollen allergen extract) is a standardized sublingual allergen immunotherapy (SLIT) developed by ALK-Abelló in collaboration with Merck. It is a biologic product consisting of a lyophilized extract of pollen from the short ragweed (*Ambrosia artemisiifolia*) plant, standardized to 12 Amb a 1-U (Ambrosia artemisiifolia major allergen 1 units) per tablet. The drug is indicated for the treatment of short ragweed pollen-induced allergic rhinitis, with or without conjunctivitis, in patients aged 5 through 65 years. RAGWITEK works by inducing immunological tolerance through repeated sublingual exposure to the allergen, which modulates the immune system's response. This process typically involves a reduction in allergen-specific IgE, an increase in allergen-specific IgG4, and a shift in the T-cell response from a Th2-mediated allergic profile to a more tolerant state, thereby reducing symptoms upon natural exposure to ragweed pollen.
