Overview

Shoutai Pill is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily used in reproductive health. It is traditionally indicated for kidney deficiency leading to conditions such as threatened miscarriage, habitual abortion, and infertility. In modern clinical research, it is being evaluated for its efficacy in treating Diminished Ovarian Reserve (DOR) and improving outcomes in In Vitro Fertilization-Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET). The formula typically consists of four main herbs: *Cuscuta chinensis* (Tu Si Zi), *Taxillus chinensis* (Sang Ji Sheng), *Dipsacus asper* (Xu Duan), and *Asinus asini* (E Jiao). Its mechanism is thought to involve the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, improvement of ovarian blood flow, and modulation of follicular fluid metabolomics to enhance oocyte quality.
