Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SHP465 mixed amphetamine salts is a once-daily, extended-release oral formulation designed for the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It utilizes a unique triple-bead technology to provide immediate-release and two types of delayed-release profiles, resulting in up to 16 hours of therapeutic coverage. Each capsule contains equal amounts by weight of four different amphetamine salts—dextroamphetamine sulfate, amphetamine sulfate, dextroamphetamine saccharate, and amphetamine aspartate monohydrate—in a 3:1 ratio of dextroamphetamine to levoamphetamine base equivalents. The mechanism of action involves blocking the reuptake and increasing synaptic concentrations of norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain[2][3][4][5].
