SHR-6914 is a targeted radiopharmaceutical being developed by Suzhou Suncadia Biopharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals, for the treatment of prostate cancer. It is designed as a radioligand therapy that specifically targets the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), also known as glutamate carboxypeptidase II, which is highly overexpressed on the surface of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) cells. The drug typically consists of a small-molecule ligand with high affinity for PSMA, conjugated to a therapeutic radioisotope (such as Lutetium-177) via a chelator and linker system. Upon intravenous administration, SHR-6914 binds to PSMA-expressing tumor cells and is internalized, allowing the radioisotope to deliver localized ionizing radiation that induces DNA double-strand breaks and subsequent cell death, while sparing most healthy tissues. It is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy in patients with advanced prostate cancer.
