Overview

Shrimp anti-lipopolysaccharide factor (SALF) is an antimicrobial peptide that has demonstrated anticancer activities, including the suppression of tumor progression. It functions as a cancer vaccine adjuvant, enhancing antitumor immunity. In studies, SALF has been shown to elevate inflammasome activity and modulate the levels of various cytokines such as Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), Monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Interleukin-12 (IL-12), and Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) in macrophages. Furthermore, it enhances the expression and recruitment of immune cells like T-cells, cytotoxic T cells, Natural killer cells, and macrophages, while simultaneously decreasing levels of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF).
