shRNA against Pak1 is a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of p21-activated kinase 1 (PAK1). PAK1 is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a key role in cell survival, proliferation, and cytoskeletal reorganization, and is frequently overexpressed or hyperactivated in various cancers, including breast cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma. By mediating RNA interference (RNAi), the shRNA leads to the degradation of PAK1 mRNA, resulting in reduced PAK1 protein levels. In research settings, silencing of PAK1 has been shown to inhibit downstream ERK and Akt signaling, restore normal acinar architecture in breast cancer models, and sensitize cancer cells to other therapies [1.1].
