Overview

shRNA-KPNA2 is a research-grade RNA interference (RNAi) tool designed to silence the expression of the KPNA2 (Karyopherin Alpha 2) gene. KPNA2 is a member of the importin alpha family, which plays a critical role in the nucleocytoplasmic transport of proteins, including transcription factors and cell cycle regulators. Overexpression of KPNA2 is associated with poor prognosis and chemoresistance in various malignancies, including multiple myeloma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and oral squamous cell carcinoma. By utilizing a short hairpin RNA sequence typically delivered via lentiviral or plasmid vectors, shRNA-KPNA2 induces sequence-specific degradation of KPNA2 mRNA, thereby inhibiting tumor cell proliferation, migration, and autophagy. In multiple myeloma models, knockdown of KPNA2 has been shown to sensitize cells to bortezomib by modulating the non-canonical NF-κB signaling pathway.
