Overview

"Shu-Gan Qing-Huo Chinese medicine" (also known as Shu-Gan Qing-Huo formula or recipe) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction developed by the Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for the treatment of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Based on the TCM theory of "six Qi transforming into fire" (六气皆从火化), the formulation is designed to soothe the liver and clear fire (疏肝清火). It has been evaluated in clinical trials (such as ChiCTR1800017737) as an add-on therapy to conventional thyroid-function management (such as levothyroxine or methimazole) to improve thyroid autoantibody outcomes (such as reducing TGAb and TPOAb levels) and alleviate clinical symptoms in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
