Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shuangbai San is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula used externally for the management of pain, swelling, and inflammation. It is composed of five major herbal ingredients: Rhei Radix Et Rhizoma (Dahuang), Platycladi Cacumen (Cebaiye), Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai), Herba Lycopi (Zeran), and Mentha haplocalyx (Bohe). Shuangbai San is widely used in surgical and orthopedic settings in China for conditions such as sprains, soft tissue injuries, and acute gouty arthritis. Additionally, clinical studies, including a multicenter randomized trial led by the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, have evaluated its efficacy and safety as a topical treatment for cancer-related pain in patients with primary liver cancer.
