Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule (SDMM) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed and manufactured by Beijing Qihuang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy. Administered orally as a capsule, it is composed of 11 medicinal ingredients, including *Ligustrum lucidum*, *Eclipta*, *Panax notoginseng*, and *Salvia*. The drug is approved in China (SFDA Z20080062) and has been evaluated in Phase IV clinical trials. Its therapeutic mechanism involves the regulation of microRNA expression (specifically miR-450b-5p, miR-1249, and miR-155-5p) and the reduction of oxidative stress-induced apoptosis in retinal pericytes through the PARP/GAPDH signaling pathway. Clinical research indicates it improves retinal morphology, restores ganglion cell layer cell numbers, and alleviates systemic diabetic symptoms such as polyuria and polydipsia.
