Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shuanghuanglian Tablets is a traditional Chinese patent medicine (TCPM) formulated from three key herbal ingredients: Lonicera japonica (Japanese honeysuckle), Scutellaria baicalensis (Baikal skullcap), and Forsythia suspensa (weeping forsythia). It is widely used in China for clearing heat, detoxifying the body, and expelling wind-heat pathogens. The formulation is primarily indicated for the treatment of acute upper respiratory tract infections, the common cold, fever, cough, and sore throat. Its active chemical constituents, including baicalin, chlorogenic acid, and forsythoside A, exhibit broad-spectrum antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties.
