Overview
Shuangshen granule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed by Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of pulmonary nodules, particularly ground-glass opacities, and as an adjuvant therapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The formulation is based on the TCM principle of "tonifying Qi and activating blood circulation" (Yi Qi Huo Xue), typically comprising *Radix Pseudostellariae* (Taizishen) and *Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae* (Danshen). Pharmacological studies suggest that Shuangshen granule may inhibit tumor progression by modulating the immune microenvironment, suppressing angiogenesis through the inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and interfering with the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway to induce apoptosis and inhibit cell proliferation. It is currently utilized as a hospital-made preparation and is undergoing clinical evaluation in Phase 2 trials.
