Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shufeng Zhike Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Beijing Zhongyan Tongrentang Pharmaceutical Research and Development Co., Ltd. specifically for the treatment of cough variant asthma (CVA). The drug is designed based on the TCM principle of dispelling wind and relieving cough, targeting the wind-pathogen invading the lung syndrome. It is a multi-herb combination typically containing ingredients such as *Schizonepeta tenuifolia*, *Saposhnikovia divaricata*, and *Cicadae Periostracum*. Pharmacologically, the granules are believed to exert anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects by regulating the Th1/Th2 immune balance, specifically by inhibiting the production of Th2-associated cytokines and reducing serum Immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels. This action helps to alleviate airway hyperresponsiveness and persistent dry cough, which are hallmark symptoms of CVA. The drug has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in China as a potential alternative or adjunct to standard inhaled corticosteroid therapies.
