shugan hewei

ShuGanHeWei (shugan hewei) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation designed to "soothe the liver and harmonize the stomach." It is widely used in China for gastrointestinal disorders such as chronic atrophic gastritis and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), especially when associated with symptoms like poor appetite, abdominal pain or fullness, nausea, vomiting, acid regurgitation, and abnormal bowel movements. The formula contains multiple herbal ingredients including Bupleurum falcatum root (chai hu), Atractylodes macrocephala root (bai zhu), Paeonia lactiflora root (bai shao), Citrus medica fruit (fo shou), Citrus reticulata peel (chen pi), Curcuma longa stem (yu jin), Saussurea costus root (mu xiang), Cyperus rotundus rhizome (xiang fu), Glycyrrhiza uralensis root/rhizome (gan cao), Lindera strychnifolia root (wu yao), Pogostemon cablin herb (huo xiang), Raphanus sativus fruit/lai fu zi and others[4][5]. Mechanistically, network pharmacology studies suggest that its main active compounds include quercetin, kaempferol and luteolin.
