Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shugan Hewei recipe (SHR) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal prescription developed by the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated to Capital Medical University. It is primarily used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and its associated symptoms, including acid regurgitation, chest pain, and mood disturbances such as anxiety and depression. SHR is administered in granule form and contains active phytochemicals such as quercetin, kaempferol, and luteolin. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of inflammatory and immune responses through targets like TGF-β1, IL-1β, IL-4, and various MAP kinases. Clinical studies have evaluated its efficacy in comparison to proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole.
