Shugan Qingre granules

Shugan Qingre granules (also known as Shu-gan-qing-re formula or SGQR) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) patent formula developed by Beijing Anding Hospital of Capital Medical University for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Tailored from classic TCM prescriptions such as Xiao-yao powder and Gan-mai-da-zao decoction, the formula is composed of ten herbal ingredients: Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Bupleuri, Angelica Sinensis, Radix Curcumae, Poria Cocos, Bulbus Lilii, Cortex Albiziae, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Triticum aestivum L., and Fructus Jujubae. It functions by smoothing liver qi and clearing inner heat, which corresponds to the TCM pattern of fire derived from stagnation of liver-qi. Shugan Qingre granules have been evaluated in clinical trials, including a Phase 4 study comparing its efficacy and safety to buspirone in adults with mild-to-moderate GAD, where it also demonstrated regulatory effects on peripheral blood inflammatory cytokines.
