Shuganhuazhuo Formula

Shuganhuazhuo Formula (SHF) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine decoction being investigated for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), particularly in patients presenting with the Damp-Heat and Blood Stasis syndrome. The formula is composed of several botanical ingredients, including *Bupleuri Radix* (Chaihu), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin), processed *Pinelliae Rhizoma* (Fabanxia), *Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma* (Renshen), *Agrimoniae Herba* (Xianhecao), stir-fried *Arecae Semen* (Chao Binglang), stir-fried *Aurantii Fructus* (Chao Zhiqiao), and *Artemisiae Scopariae Herba* (Yinchen). SHF is designed to improve liver reserve function, which is often compromised by tumor burden, cirrhosis, or anti-tumor treatments. Preclinical studies suggest that the formula can inhibit liver necrosis, reduce fibrosis scores, and provide antioxidant effects. It is currently being evaluated in randomized controlled trials as an adjunctive therapy to standard-of-care treatments such as targeted therapy and immunotherapy to enhance overall survival and quality of life.
