Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ShuGanYiShen granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically designed to mitigate the side effects of endocrine therapy in breast cancer patients, particularly aromatase inhibitor-associated bone loss (osteoporosis and osteopenia). The formulation is based on the TCM therapeutic principle of "soothing the liver and tonifying the kidney," which is intended to address the systemic imbalances caused by estrogen deprivation. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for postmenopausal women with stage I-III hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer who are undergoing treatment with third-generation aromatase inhibitors. The granules aim to preserve bone mineral density, improve immune function, and enhance quality of life by addressing traditional Chinese medicine symptoms associated with treatment-induced menopause.
