Overview

Shuhe granule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed as a botanical drug for the treatment of insomnia, particularly in patients with "qi-blood disharmony" according to TCM theory. It is composed of 13 botanical ingredients, including Neolitsea cassia (Guizhi), Paeonia lactiflora (Baishao), Zingiber officinale (Shengjiang), Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Gancao), Ziziphus jujuba (Dazao), Panax ginseng (Renshen), Angelica sinensis (Danggui), and Ophiopogon japonicus among others. The preparation involves extraction, concentration, drying, and granulation using modern pharmaceutical technology. Its purported mechanism in TCM is to reconcile qi and blood and to warm and tonify the heart and kidney. Clinical studies are ongoing to evaluate its efficacy and safety for chronic insomnia[6][7][2].
