Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shujin Xiaotong capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) preparation used for treating knee osteoarthritis, rheumatic bone pain, and related musculoskeletal conditions. The formulation is composed of six herbal ingredients: *Ligusticum wallichii* (Chuanxiong), *Angelica pubescens* (Duhuo), *Angelica sinensis* (Danggui), *Taxillus chinensis* (Sangjisheng), *Spatholobus suberectus* (Jixueteng), and *Dipsacus asper* (Xuduan). It functions by targeting inflammatory pathways, specifically inhibiting tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and the phosphorylation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB). Research indicates that ligustrazine, a bioactive component from *Ligusticum wallichii*, plays a significant role in inhibiting chondrocyte apoptosis and reducing inflammatory markers, thereby facilitating articular cartilage repair and improving joint function.
