Overview
Shujinjianyao Pill (SJJYP) is a traditional Chinese patent medicine (TCPM) formulated as concentrated honey pills containing 13 herbal ingredients, including Cibotii Rhizoma, Rosae Laevigatae Fructus, and Spatholobi Caulis. Developed by Guangzhou Chen Li Ji Pharmaceutical Factory and studied by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of low back pain, sciatica (particularly resulting from lumbar disc herniation with liver-kidney deficiency syndrome), and waist and knee pain. The formulation is characterized by its ability to tonify the liver and kidney, strengthen muscles and bones, and activate collaterals to relieve pain. Pharmacological studies have demonstrated its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-osteoporotic properties. A large-scale real-world registry study (NCT03598153) has been conducted to monitor its safety profile, specifically focusing on the risk of drug-induced liver injury.
