Overview
Shumian capsule (舒眠胶囊) is a proprietary Chinese medicine (TCM) primarily developed and manufactured by Guizhou Bailing Group Pharmaceutical. It is indicated for the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, and depressive disorders, particularly those characterized by liver qi stagnation and internal heat. The formulation is a combination of several botanical extracts, including *Ziziphus jujuba* var. *spinosa* (Suanzaoren), *Albizia julibrissin* (Hehuanhua), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), and *Bupleurum chinense* (Chaihu). These ingredients are traditionally used to soothe the liver, clear heat, and calm the spirit (Anshen). In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shumian capsule has been investigated in clinical trials to evaluate its efficacy in managing sleep and mood disorders in convalescent patients.
