Overview
Shuxuening is a standardized Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) injection derived from the leaves of *Ginkgo biloba*. It is primarily composed of ginkgo flavonoids and terpene lactones, including ginkgolides and bilobalide. The drug is widely utilized in China for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disorders, such as unstable angina, coronary heart disease, and ischemic stroke. Its mechanism of action involves the promotion of vasodilation, improvement of blood rheology and microcirculation, and inhibition of platelet aggregation via antagonism of the platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor. Additionally, Shuxuening has demonstrated neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties in clinical and preclinical models, potentially through the regulation of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway. It is manufactured by several major Chinese pharmaceutical companies, including CSPC Yinhu Pharmaceutical and Shineway Pharmaceutical.
