Overview

Shuxuening injection (SXNI) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) botanical extract derived from *Ginkgo biloba* leaves, widely utilized in China for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. In the context of acute ischemic stroke, it functions as a multi-target neuroprotective agent. Its pharmacological profile includes the inhibition of platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptors, regulation of neurotrophin signaling pathways (specifically brain-derived neurotrophic factor/Trk signaling), and down-regulation of G-CSF-mediated granulocyte adhesion and diapedesis. Clinical evaluation, including Phase 4 trials led by Peking University Third Hospital, has demonstrated its efficacy in improving neurological deficits and functional outcomes when used as an adjunct to conventional stroke therapies such as aspirin or thrombolysis.
