SHY Oral Gel

SHY Oral Gel is an over-the-counter desensitizing oral gel developed by Group Pharmaceuticals, specifically formulated to manage dentinal hypersensitivity (sensitive teeth). The product contains a combination of potassium nitrate and sodium monofluorophosphate. Potassium nitrate acts as a nerve desensitizer by increasing the extracellular concentration of potassium ions around the dental nerve fibers; this leads to a sustained depolarization of the nerve membrane, effectively blocking the transmission of pain stimuli to the brain. Sodium monofluorophosphate serves as a fluoride source that promotes the remineralization of tooth enamel and helps occlude (plug) exposed dentinal tubules. This dual action provides relief from sensitivity triggered by thermal, chemical, or mechanical stimuli while also offering protection against dental caries.
