si-B7-H1-1 is an experimental small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to specifically target and silence the expression of the B7-H1 (CD274/PD-L1) gene. In preclinical studies, particularly those involving colorectal cancer cell lines like HCT116, si-B7-H1-1 is used to investigate the functional role of B7-H1 in tumor biology. By inducing the degradation of B7-H1 mRNA through the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, the agent effectively reduces the expression of the PD-L1 protein. This knockdown has been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, while concurrently promoting apoptosis. These findings suggest that B7-H1 not only facilitates immune evasion but also plays an intrinsic role in the oncogenic behavior of colorectal carcinoma cells, making it a potential therapeutic target.
