si-cDCBLD2 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) molecule designed to silence the expression of the Discoidin, CUB and LCCL domain-containing protein 2 (DCBLD2), also known as ESDN or CLCP1. DCBLD2 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is frequently overexpressed in various malignancies, including colorectal, gastric, and lung cancers, where it acts as a scaffold protein to promote oncogenic signaling, cell proliferation, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The mechanism of action for si-cDCBLD2 involves the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway; upon delivery into target cells, the siRNA is incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which then guides the sequence-specific cleavage and degradation of DCBLD2 mRNA. This reduction in DCBLD2 protein levels leads to the inhibition of downstream pathways such as PI3K/AKT and MAPK/ERK, thereby suppressing tumor growth and metastatic potential. Currently, si-cDCBLD2 is primarily utilized in preclinical research to validate DCBLD2 as a viable therapeutic target in oncology.
