si-GSK-3β is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to specifically target and silence the expression of the glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK-3β) gene. GSK-3β is a multifunctional serine/threonine kinase that plays a critical role in various signaling pathways, including those involved in cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. In many cancers, including endometrial carcinoma, GSK-3β is overexpressed and acts as an oncogene. By utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, si-GSK-3β induces the degradation of GSK-3β mRNA, leading to a significant reduction in protein levels. This downregulation results in the inhibition of tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, while simultaneously promoting apoptosis through the modulation of downstream effectors such as NF-kB, Cyclin D1, MMP9, and p21.
