si-SPINK1-2 is a specific small interfering RNA (siRNA) sequence designed to silence the expression of the Serine Peptidase Inhibitor Kazal Type 1 (SPINK1) gene. SPINK1 has been identified as a marker for an aggressive subtype of prostate cancer, where its overexpression promotes malignant cellular behaviors including proliferation, migration, and invasion. In research settings, si-SPINK1-2 is utilized to induce the degradation of SPINK1 mRNA, thereby reducing protein levels and attenuating the oncogenic phenotype in SPINK1-positive cell lines such as 22Rv1. This experimental tool is critical for validating SPINK1 as a therapeutic target and understanding the biological mechanisms underlying SPINK1-mediated cancer progression.
