siCaveolin-1 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the Caveolin-1 (CAV1) gene. Caveolin-1 is a key structural component of caveolae and has been implicated in various signaling pathways, including those governing cellular senescence and cancer progression. In pancreatic cancer research, siCaveolin-1 is used to knockdown CAV1 in cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) to study its impact on the tumor microenvironment. Experimental evidence suggests that high Caveolin-1 expression in CAFs correlates with poor patient prognosis and increased tumor cell invasion; silencing CAV1 with siCaveolin-1 has been shown to reduce the invasive potential of pancreatic cancer cells in co-culture models.
