Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Siccaprotect is an ophthalmic solution indicated for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) and the protection of the ocular surface. It is a combination product containing polyvinyl alcohol and dexpanthenol. Polyvinyl alcohol acts as a lubricant and film-forming agent that increases the viscosity of the tear film, thereby stabilizing it and reducing the evaporation of natural tears. Dexpanthenol, a precursor of pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5), promotes the regeneration of the corneal and conjunctival epithelium and supports wound healing. Developed and manufactured by Ursapharm, Siccaprotect is used to alleviate irritation, burning, and dryness of the eyes, particularly when these symptoms are associated with environmental factors or underlying tear film instability.
