siCOX7A1 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 7A1 (COX7A1) gene. In the context of endometrial cancer research, COX7A1 has been identified as a driver of ferroptosis—a form of regulated cell death characterized by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation. While COX7A1 overexpression induces mitochondrial dysfunction and ferroptosis, the use of siCOX7A1 to knock down this gene has been shown to inhibit ferroptosis and promote the proliferation of endometrial cancer cells. This tool is primarily used in preclinical research to investigate the molecular mechanisms of mitochondrial function and iron metabolism in cancer.
