Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SIDIPREV is a gut-restricted, non-systemic compound delivered as a metered-dose oxygen delivery system designed to be co-administered with antibiotics. Its primary mechanism is to increase the concentration of molecular oxygen in the lower gastrointestinal tract, which is toxic to anaerobic pathogens such as *Clostridioides difficile*. By raising local oxygen levels during antibiotic treatment—a major risk factor for C. difficile infection—SIDIPREV aims to prevent these infections before they start, particularly in hospitalized elderly patients at high risk. The drug was originally developed by Xeno Biosciences for weight loss but repurposed by LPOXY Therapeutics for C. difficile prevention after acquisition of key assets from Xeno Biosciences[1][3][4][5][7].
