Overview

SIG-1273 is a small molecule cosmetic functional ingredient developed by Signum Biosciences, chemically identified as disodium tetramethylhexadecenyl succinoyl cysteine. It is a dual-action isoprenylcysteine (IPC) analog designed to address acne-prone skin and signs of aging. SIG-1273 exhibits antibacterial activity against *Cutibacterium acnes* and provides significant anti-inflammatory effects by antagonizing Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) signaling, thereby inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-8. Additionally, it acts as an antioxidant to protect the skin from oxidative stress and environmental damage. The compound is also reported to modulate the lipolysis pathway, contributing to skin-firming benefits. SIG-1273 is utilized as a key active ingredient in topical skincare products, such as those from the Neora and Epicutis brands, for the treatment of blemishes and age-related skin concerns.
