SIG002

SIG002 refers to two distinct investigational products. The first is a perinatal-derived secretome developed by Arugula Sciences for the treatment of osteoarthritis, specifically hallux rigidus (big toe osteoarthritis). It is a biologic consisting of a purified secretome free of cells and tissue fragments, designed to provide immunoregulatory effects via intra-articular injection; it received FDA clearance for Phase 1 clinical trials in 2023. The second is SIG-002 (often written as SIG002), an encapsulated pancreatic beta cell replacement therapy developed by Sigilon Therapeutics (acquired by Eli Lilly) for the treatment of type 1 diabetes. This therapy utilizes Sigilon's proprietary Shielded Living Therapeutics platform to encapsulate insulin-producing cells, protecting them from the host immune system and potentially eliminating the need for chronic immunosuppression.
