Overview
Siglec15 is a membrane-bound lectin and an immunosuppressive transmembrane protein that functions as an inhibitory immune checkpoint. It plays a crucial role in regulating inflammatory processes, promoting cancer development by repressing T lymphocyte activation and proliferation, and facilitating tumor cell immune escape. Siglec15 is also implicated in osteoclast differentiation and bone remodeling. Its expression is often upregulated in various cancer types and is associated with an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, making it a significant target for novel immunotherapies.
