siHES1#7 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic candidate developed by Otologic Pharmaceutics for the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). The drug functions by silencing the HES1 (Hairy and Enhancer of Split 1) mRNA. HES1 is a transcription factor in the Notch signaling pathway that inhibits the differentiation of supporting cells into sensory hair cells in the inner ear. By downregulating HES1, siHES1#7 aims to promote the regeneration of hair cells, thereby restoring hearing function. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
