siHK3 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the Hexokinase 3 (HK3) gene. In the context of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) research, siHK3 is utilized to investigate the metabolic and epigenetic mechanisms by which senescent macrophages contribute to disease progression. By knocking down HK3, siHK3 reduces lactate secretion and the lactylation of histone H3 at lysine 14 (H3K14la) within macrophages. This intervention promotes a shift in macrophage polarization, reducing the pro-inflammatory environment that otherwise drives the proliferation and invasion of synovial fibroblasts.
