siHOXA1 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the Homeobox A1 (HOXA1) gene. In oncology research, HOXA1 is recognized as a transcription factor involved in cell differentiation and proliferation, and its dysregulation is linked to various cancers, including breast cancer. Specifically, siHOXA1 is used to investigate the HOTAIRM1/HOXA1 axis, where HOXA1 overexpression contributes to acquired tamoxifen resistance in ER+ breast cancer cells. By knocking down HOXA1, siHOXA1 can restore tamoxifen sensitivity in resistant models like MCF7 (TAMR) cells. This reagent acts by promoting the degradation of HOXA1 mRNA, thereby reducing the protein levels of this homeodomain-containing transcription factor.
