SII B.1.617.2 is a monovalent COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed to target the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant (lineage B.1.617.2). It was developed by Novavax and manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII). The vaccine is based on recombinant protein subunit technology, using the spike protein of the Delta variant as its antigenic component, and formulated with Matrix-M adjuvant to enhance immune response[3][8][1]. Its primary indication was for prevention of COVID-19 caused by the Delta variant; however, development has been discontinued[1].
