Overview

**SII-TCV (B)** is an investigational bivalent glycoconjugate vaccine developed and manufactured by Serum Institute of India for prevention of enteric fever caused by *Salmonella enterica* serovar Typhi and *Salmonella enterica* serovar Paratyphi A. It contains *S. Typhi* Vi capsular polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus toxoid and *S. Paratyphi* A O-specific polysaccharide O:2 conjugated to diphtheria toxoid. Intramuscular vaccination is intended to induce antigen-specific anti-Vi and anti-O:2 humoral immunity, including functional bactericidal antibodies against *S. Paratyphi* A. A completed Phase I trial in healthy Indian adults found the vaccine to be safe and immunogenic; it is being evaluated in the Phase II BiVISTA controlled human infection model study in healthy UK adults.
