Overview

siIFIT3-2 is a specific small interfering RNA (siRNA) sequence designed to target and silence the expression of the IFIT3 (Interferon-induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeat 3) gene. IFIT3 is a member of the IFIT family known for its roles in antiviral immunity and cellular regulation. In the context of ulcerative colitis (UC), IFIT3 expression is upregulated and contributes to the inflammatory response. siIFIT3-2 works by degrading IFIT3 mRNA, which in turn inhibits the STAT1/2 signaling pathway and shifts macrophage polarization from the pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype toward a more regulatory state. This experimental RNA therapy is being investigated for its potential to relieve the symptoms and underlying inflammation associated with ulcerative colitis.
