Drug intelligence / Profile preview
siInhba is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of the Inhba gene, which encodes the inhibin beta A subunit (a component of activin A). Activin A is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily and a well-documented inducer of muscle atrophy. In preclinical models of periodontitis, local administration of siInhba into periodontitis-affected gingiva has been shown to significantly reduce serum activin A levels, thereby preventing systemic skeletal muscle atrophy and restoring muscle mass and myofiber size without causing apparent systemic adverse effects. Additionally, siInhba has been investigated in preclinical models of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma to prevent cancer-associated muscle wasting.
