Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Silankang is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) consisting of a combination of four probiotic strains: *Bifidobacterium infantis*, *Lactobacillus acidophilus*, *Enterococcus faecalis*, and *Bacillus cereus*. Developed by Hangzhou Yuanda Biopharmaceutical, it is formulated as a live bacterial preparation designed to restore the ecological balance of the intestinal microbiota. The mechanism of action involves the replenishment of beneficial anaerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria that produce organic acids and bacteriocins to inhibit the growth of pathogenic organisms. *Bacillus cereus* specifically acts by consuming oxygen in the intestinal tract, thereby creating an anaerobic environment that facilitates the colonization and growth of *Bifidobacterium* and other beneficial species. Silankang is primarily indicated for gastrointestinal disorders associated with intestinal dysbiosis, including diarrhea and constipation, and is currently undergoing Phase II/III clinical evaluation in China for the treatment of functional constipation during pregnancy.
