Overview

Silarvirovir (GKT-001) is a small molecule NS3/4A protease inhibitor developed by Ginkgo Tree Pharmaceutical (Suzhou) for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It is typically administered as silarvirovir potassium. In clinical trials, it has been evaluated in combination with other direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) like sofosbuvir, specifically targeting genotypes 2, 3, and 6 in non-cirrhotic patients. The drug works by inhibiting the NS3/4A serine protease, an enzyme essential for HCV polyprotein processing and viral replication. By blocking this protease, silarvirovir prevents the formation of functional viral proteins, thereby halting the viral lifecycle.
