Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sildogen-D is an oral fixed-dose combination capsule marketed by Gonan Pharma, containing silodosin and dutasteride. It is indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Silodosin is a highly selective alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist that works by relaxing the smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, thereby reducing dynamic obstruction and improving urinary flow. Dutasteride is a dual 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that blocks the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the hormone primarily responsible for prostate enlargement. By inhibiting both Type 1 and Type 2 isoenzymes of 5-alpha reductase, dutasteride reduces the static component of obstruction by shrinking the prostate gland over time. This combination therapy addresses both the muscular and structural causes of urinary symptoms associated with BPH.
